How we create, review, source, date and correct practical information about life in Canada.

Sources
For government programs, immigration, tax, benefits, health and regulated processes, we prioritize federal, provincial, territorial, municipal and regulator sources.
Review
GuideCAN editors review articles for clarity, internal consistency, source alignment and potentially misleading certainty. Editorial review is not the same as review by a lawyer, doctor, financial adviser or immigration professional.
Dates
Publication and update dates must reflect a verifiable release or substantive revision. We do not stagger dates to make a collection appear older or independently produced.
Corrections
When we identify a material error, outdated rule or unclear statement, we correct it and update the review information where appropriate.
Independence
Commercial relationships do not determine eligibility statements, official requirements or editorial conclusions. Sponsored placements must be identified.
Limits of GuideCAN review
GuideCAN provides general information and organizational tools. Unless an article explicitly names a qualified reviewer and their credentials, do not interpret “reviewed” as professional legal, immigration, medical, tax or financial review. Confirm decisions with the responsible authority or a qualified professional.
Report a correction
Send the page URL, the statement that may be wrong, and an official source supporting the correction. Do not send private case files or sensitive personal information.
